生物学应用：NP40是一种非离子型表面活性剂，是动物细胞常用的裂解液。在免疫沉淀中所用的抗体是识别构像的表位时使用NP40裂解液。如果抗体是识别线性抗原表位（如合成肽）则可使用强变性裂解液（如RIPA裂解液）。
