Introduction： Aquaporin-4，又称AQP4，是一种由AQP4基因编码的水通道蛋白。AQP4属于aquaporin家族，是一种通过细胞膜传导水分的整体膜蛋白，它的结构由六个跨膜结构域和五个连接环组成通道。通过X射线晶体学研究，发现"每个AQP4单体由六个螺旋状的跨膜结构域和两个短螺旋段组成，围绕着一个狭窄的水孔。"在最窄处，水孔的尺寸为2.8埃，刚好够水分子单行通过。虽然每个单体都能单独运水，但通道的四级结构是四聚体。AQP4单体组装成四聚体的过程与其他水汽素通道相似。此外，它在中枢神经系统中有两种不同的结构异构体：M1和M23。M23异构体在星形胶质细胞的内脚膜上是较大的方形阵列，而M1异构体则较小且不稳定。水通道蛋白-4四聚体在细胞质膜上积累转化为正交颗粒阵列（OAPs）。
